The Green House was designed partly as a showcase for casual luxury living, and partly in response to the current demand for environmental solutions. Built by Lifestyle Custom Homes by SWA, this custom designed home is an expression of functionality and detail. The home was designed by Styczynski Walker & Associates, Architects, utilizing the architect lead design-build process, which includes a team of professionals during the entire process including the interior designer, audio/visual consultant, lighting designer, landscape designer and the construction manager of Lifestyle Custom Homes by SWA. The harmony created by this team allows for a rewarding final design, which integrates virtually all aspects of family living.
The Green House was designed for an existing lot in Downers Grove, to fit the character of the existing streetscape. Attention and care was given to maintain the existing Spruce trees and other significant shrubbery to give the house the feeling that it has always been there. The facade is a variation of an Arts and Crafts theme, utilizing Eldorado Stone, James Hardie siding and cedar for a virtually maintenance free exterior. The home was designed to meet the National Association of Home Builders Green Building Guidelines and is an Energy Star rated home.
