Contractor Lends a Helping Hand

1

I was working in my home office during the holidays when I received a call from our office manager. She asked if I had seen the 10:00 news the previous evening and began to tell me that one of the contractors that I have been working with for years, Gary Skott with Quality Craft Incorporated, had been featured on the news cast. Quality Craft, Inc. (QCI) is a restoration contractor based in Elgin, Illinois.

The news feature told how Quality Craft was assisting a couple from a Chicago suburb whose home had been damaged in a fire in early 2010. The couple had started working with their insurance company and a different design build contractor, but after the contractor was given approximately $50,000 of the insurance money and having barely started the demolition, he disappeared.

Pro Expo

On February 22 Bill Styczynski and Tom Fend attended The Pro Expo sponsored by Pella at the United Center in Chicago. More than twenty exhibitors were demonstrating some innovative new products including Pella's new solid vinyl line of windows and French doors and their out-swing casements.

Huberp Huber Engineered Woods LLC was promoting their Zip System wall sheathing panels with StormEx water resistant barrier and Zip System tape. This sheathing has a water resistant barrier factory applied to the wall sheathing eliminating the need for a separate house wrap.3

Bill and Tom were able to meet with numerous builder clients and found them as a group to be much more upbeat about the state of the construction industry than they have been for several years. To the right is Bill speaking with Mike Pudlik of Legacy Design and Construction whom SWA Architects has worked with on several projects over the past 12 years.

Thanks again to Pella for an informative show.

Audi

3

Construction is nearly complete on the newly renovated Continental Audi of Naperville. The managers and sales team are happy to be moving out of their temporary trailers and into their newly expanded showroom while the finishing touches are being put in place.

3The new showroom space can now hold 10 cars up from 4 in the old space and 10 newly configured sales stations that give each member of the sales team more space. A new service reception area can accommodate 6 cars while the new service write-up area and waiting provides a comfortable place for customers looking to have their cars serviced.

Once all of the finishing touches are complete, Continental Audi will be having a re-grand opening to show off their new look. We will post more information on that event when we get it.
